Founded by Dr. Lawrence E. White, American Dreams Foundation’s purpose is to promote and support amateur wrestling in Florida.

A former wrestler and graduate from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Dr. White said, “Wrestling will teach you to be successful”. While he did not wrestle in high school, his experience as a varsity wrestler at Lehigh ignited a passion that has lasted a lifetime. After one year as a volunteer assistant coach in Buffalo, New York he spent 25 years coaching at Central Florida high schools including Boone, Oak Ridge, Dr. Philips and Lake Highland Prep.

“Wrestling taught me what hard work is. I learned how to set goals and how to develop a plan to achieve those goals. I learned discipline and sacrifice; and how to be responsible & accountable. I learned how to overcome obstacles and what total commitment really is. Most importantly, I learned how to work smart individually and as part of a team, and how to win & lose with dignity.”

To help others learn these same valuable lessons, ADF is sponsoring the All Class Wrestling Scholarship. “No other state has a program like this. I’m proud to say that over $300,000 has been allocated to institutions for the benefit of Florida Wrestlers over the past four years”.

Former Florida high school wrestlers are continuing their education at institutions like American University, Northern Illinois, California Polytechnic State University, University of Central Florida, Edward Waters College and The Apprentice School, among others (a complete list can be found by clicking here).
