Mark Wohltman Memorial Donation

Central Florida has lost a great supporter of youth wrestling.  In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to American Dreams Foundation (ADF).  The Foundation supports the All Class Wrestling Scholarship to high school wresters.

Marc Shawn Wohltman, age 49 resided in Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2019. Born April 1, 1970 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the parents of Barbara Trainor and Richard Wohltman. His parents also included father Donald Rocco Schiraldo Sr. His siblings included Deanalyn Wohltman and Adam Wohltman. Marc grew up in Brick Town, New Jersey with many amazing friends that he kept his entire life. He was married to Angela Oriento Wohltman in 1996 and they raised two boys: Mason John Wohltman (age 20) and Jake Riley Wohltman (age 18). He attended Green Mountain College in Vermont and worked as a mutual fund wholesaler for AIG. Marc loved people more than anything and his larger-than-life personality affected many. He enjoyed fishing and watching his children wrestle; one of his most passionate activities. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Angela Wohltman, and their two sons Mason and Jake. He is predeceased both parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to “The American Dreams Foundation: 625 Waltham Avenue Orlando, FL 32809. This foundation provides college scholarships to high school wrestlers. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be Friday, June 28, 2019 at 2:00 St. James Cathedral: 215 N. All Class Wrestling Showcase Discontinued

Coaches, Wrestlers, Families and Supporters,

As the 2015-16 FHSAA season kicks off, we regret to announce that the Florida All Class Wrestling Showcase will not be held this year.

When American Dreams Foundation developed and announced the All Class Wrestling Showcase in 2011 we had a vision of seeing all three FHSAA division champs battling it out to prove who’s truly number one in Florida.  This also gave us an opportunity to support the best of the best student athletes – State placewinner caliber wrestlers – as they pursue their educational pursuits beyond high school.  We are proud to announce that nearly $300,000 was awarded to participating, qualified athletes in the four years of the Florida All Class Wrestling Showcase.

Unfortunately, broad support from the top athletes and programs never materialized. While we did witness some great bouts – a few state final rematches and some state champ matchups – the overall turnout was not sufficient to warrant holding the Showcase any longer.

We are reviewing ways to continue our support for top caliber Florida wrestlers, and will still be sponsoring the All Star (CFWA/SoFlo) Disney Duals squad, which last year finished 3rd and brought All American honors to Florida.

We are also exploring alternate scholarship opportunities and the future possibility of establishing a true All Class Tournament in some form that ensures that a large majority of  the best wrestlers participate.

Our sincere thanks go out to Coaches Palazzo and Bird, all the Lake Highland, CFWA and Osceola families and all the coaches, parents and athletes who supported the All Class Showcase.

Good luck in your future wrestling season!

Larry and Patrick White, American Dreams Foundation
